John Allen Higgins Sr.

Mr. John Allen Higgins Sr., 84, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Parkside Nursing Home.

He was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Miami, Fla., to the late Joseph and Katherine Felton Higgins.

He worked in the Union as a sheet metal worker for the majority of his life. He was also a veteran and served in the United States Army. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by sons, Brian Higgins and John Higgins Jr.; daughters, Susan Rogers and Pamela Higgins; brothers, Gene Durham, Jerry Zurcher; sister, Ella Mae Ledoux; grandchildren, Alex Higgins, Megan Raymond, Ashley Glass; great-grandchildren, Mya Raymond, Sophia Raymond and Mckenzie Glass; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept., 22, 2022, at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with family officiating.

Pallbearers were Brian Higgins, Curtis Rogers and David Rogers.

Donations can be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery fund in memory of Mr. Higgins.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
