J.G. Dover

Mr. J.G. Dover, 89, of Ellijay, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, at the Sonshine Manor Personal Care.

He was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Ellijay, to the late Cicero and Cora Crawford Dover. 

He was a graduate of Gilmer High School and served his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of Northcutt Baptist Church for 58 years and was a retiree of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources after working as a game warden for 30 years. 

He is preceded in death by grandchild, Noah Hall; sister, Ventalee Dover; and brothers, Vernon, Estus, and Tom Dover.

He is survived by wife of 61 years, Mae Clayton Dover; daughters and son-in-law, Phillis Dover Milton, Lynn and Donnie Weaver, all of Ellijay; sister, Marjorie Dover Evans, of Ellijay.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Clayton and the Rev. Emuel Sanford officiating. 

Military graveside rites were performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard. 

Interment was in the Northcutt Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Keith Milton, Danny Hall, Jason Benton, Billy Piper, Johnny Henson and Bill Withrow.

Honorary pallbearers were retired and current DNR employees and game wardens.
