Mr. Jesse Oliver Chambless Jr., 87, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021.

He was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Damascus, to the late Jesse Oliver and Pauline (Phillips) Chambless Sr.

He attended Nine Mile United Methodist Church and owned and operated Chambless Cine Equipment for 40 years.

He loved traveling and visited many foreign countries including Scandinavia and China, all the provinces of Canada except one, and all the states except Hawaii. Most of these were explored via his motor home. He was also actively involved with several Winnebago motor home clubs where he served in various officer capacities.

He is preceded in death by wife, Theda Joyce Chambless; and sister, Patricia Chambless.

He is survived by daughter, Debra Atkins (Randy), of LaGrange; son, Daryl Chambless (Debbie), of Pisgah, Ala.; stepdaughters, Cheryl Medina and Patti Sisk, of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Derek Chambless (Sarah), Esteban Medina III (Doreen), Daniel Medina (Jenn), Fenix Medina; great-grandchildren, Julien Medina, Kalel Medina, Nico Medina, Giavanna Medina and Braydon Summers; sisters Elizabeth Gordon (Charles), of Blairsville and Anita Brown, of Barnesville.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at Nine Mile United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Naylor and the Rev. Warren Williams officiating.

Pallbearers were Derek Chambless, Esteban Medina III, Daniel Medina and Vu Bui.

Donations can be made to the Gilmer County Community Food Pantry or Nine Mile United Methodist Church in memory of Mr. Chambless.

The family of Jesse Chambless wishes to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who prayed for and aided in the care of Jesse during his time of illness.
