Jean Elaine Hughes Deal

Mrs. Jean Elaine Hughes Deal, 85, of Ellijay,  formerly of Bristol, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Aug. 22, 2022.

She was born in Oak Park, Ill., to the late Ivor and Elizabeth (Mojonnier) Hughes.

She was a member of Cartecay Baptist Church and a former member of the Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church near Patterson. She was also a faithful pastor’s wife, and supported her husband in his ministry.  She was a Navy veteran of two years, a Navy wife and a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by husband, Allison Deal; daughter, Deborah Carlile; sister, Marynel Lemke and grandson, Robert Batten.

She is survived by brother, Kenneth Hughes of Arab, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Chris Putnam, of Ellijay; son-in-law, Roger Carlile, of Chicago, Ill.; grandson and wife, Richard and Melany Batten, of Ellijay; and several nieces and nephews.   

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 24, 2022, at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home with Elder Jason Deal officiating.

Interment was in Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Williamson, Mike Deal, Eldon Deal, Jimmie Deal, Elder Ricky Deal,  Gary Deal and Donald Deal.
