Mr. James “Jim” Franklin Sumner, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021. He was born March 8, 1935, to the late Franklin Nathaniel and Jewell Eunice Sumner in Ellijay. 

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was co-owner of Sumner Brothers Underground Utilities Services for water and sewer systems in Georgia. He also owned Jim Sumner Grading. 

He is preceded in death by wife, Juanita Bearden Sumner; brothers, Charles Sumner, Herbert Sumner; and brother-in-law, Ray Hyde; sister-in-law, Grace Davis Sumner.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Todd Coleman, of Talking Rock; son and daughter-in-law, Franklin “Keith” and Krystal Sumner, of Cherry Log; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Coleman Davis and Matthew Davis, Ansley Caroline Sumner; great-granddaughter, Emilia Kate Davis; sisters and brother-in-law, Buren Sumner Hyde, Dorothy S. and Mack Logan, all of Ellijay; and sister-in-law, Inez T. Sumner. 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, from the Logan Funeral Home & Chapel with Keith Sumner, Benny Holt, Alfrado Gonzalas and the Rev. Pat Shelton officiating. 

Music was by Ronald and Linda Hyde. 

Interment was in Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Disharoon, David Disharoon, Danny Disharoon, John Sumner, Tem Miller and Marvin Chance.
