James Howard Bradley Sr.

Mr. James Howard Bradley Sr., 78, of Talking Rock, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, at his residence.

He was born in Gilmer County March 15, 1943, to Howard Q. Bradley and Lucille Holt Bradley. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War.

He was an avid reader and loved to read his Bible. He was a great storyteller and loved to tell a good joke. He was a coon hunter for over 60 years and was inducted as a lifetime member of the Cur and Plott Associations.

He was a farmer and a member of Talona Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by wife, Dora E. Bradley; sons, James H. Bradley II (Lisa Martin), of Ellijay, Daniel Q. Bradley (Monica dos Santos), of Sandy Springs, and Victor C. Bradley, of Talking Rock; daughters, Angelina Vargas, of Talking Rock and Charlotte Elaine Whatley (Michael), of Franklin, N.C.; half-brother, Benjamin Bradley, of Ellijay; grandchildren; Amanda Cassels (Tyler) Hendley, Eric Vargas, Christopher (Kelsey Love) Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Sarah Whatley, Asher Whatley, Anna Whatley; and great-grandchildren, Maddison McDaniel and Rhett Bradley.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Dotson and the Rev. Eugene Davis officiating.

Military honors were conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

Interment was in the Talona Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eric Vargas, Christopher Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Tyler Hendley, Michael Whatley and Eddie Holt.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
