Mr. George Garland, 87, of Wookstock, died at his residence Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
He was born in Gilmer County to the late Wes Garfield Garland and Florence Holt Garland.
He served our country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in August of 1958. He retired from Lockheed, where he worked for 36 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, gardener and history buff. However, above all else, he loved spending time with his grandson, Daniel.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021, from the chapel of the Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Rubin Smith officiating.
Interment was in the Riverhill Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the United States Navy.
He is survived by wife, Evelyn Farist Garland; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Karen Garland, of Holly Springs; brother and sister, Wayne Garland and Ruth Starks, both of Ellijay; grandson, Daniel Garland; and several nieces and nephews.
Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
