Mr. Edward Joseph Salettel Jr., 74, of Talking Rock, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Northside Hospital.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Valentine’s Day, 1947, to Ed Sr. and Grace. The family moved to Miami, Fla., when he was a young boy.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War.

He was self-employed through much of his life, and he owned multiple successful businesses over the years.  Most notably, he was president and owner of Advanced Water Products in Miami, Fla., until his retirement and subsequent move to Georgia.

He was an avid animal lover, having a particular fondness for his dogs. He rescued countless dogs through the years and made them part of his family. He was also an avid bowler.

As his friends and even acquaintances know, he had a kind heart and he enjoyed helping others. It has been said by many, “Ed would give you the shirt right off of his back.” He will be missed by many.

He is survived by son, Edward III (Jill), of Beaver Dam, Wis.; daughter, Tania Travieso (James), of Ocala, Fla; life partner of 25 years, Cheryl Hernandez, of Talking Rock; her daughter, Jennifer Brady, of Miami, Fla.; her son, Michael Hernandez, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and grandchildren, Justin, Andrew, Summer, Jordan, Annika and EJ IV.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
