Dr. Jeffery Lynn Walls, 64, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Ellijay, passed into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ Monday, Aug. 2, 2021. He fought for family, country and God’s kingdom.
He was born Oct. 21, 1956, to Lister Jerome Walls (Buck) and Ella ‘Jo’ Pritchett Walls in Hacoda, Ala. After graduating high school from Landmark Christian School, Montgomery Ala., he attended Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tenn. He entered the Air Force in 1983.
He was saved November 1988, while being stationed at Grand Forks, N.D. He surrendered his life to serve God and preach at Baumholder, Germany, December 1995. After 14 years, four months, 23 days in the military, he surrendered to fulltime ministry and left the military in 1996.
He graduated from Patriot University in 2004 with a Master in Counseling and a Doctorate of Ministry in pastoral studies. He was ordained to preach September 2004. God had called him to spread the gospel to Albania. He began ministering in Albania while still in the military through 2008.
He returned to Georgia and began pastoring at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cochran. Then in 2012, he moved to Ellijay to pastor Grace Baptist Church. Through his ministry, souls were saved and lives were changed.
He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with metastasis to the bones, brain, as well as throughout the body June 28, 2021. It was a rapid growing cancer. He began treatment and was having success. He went home July 19 to begin outpatient treatment. However, on July 28 he was re-admitted due to severe pain and further metastasis. It had spread and become leptomeningeal which is not curable. On hospice at home, with his wife, children and their spouses, and grandchildren, he passed away.
He is survived by wife, Sherri Walls; children, Jennifer Walls Green (Donnie), Erik Walls (Kayla), Stephanie Walls Nadeau (Daniel), Lee Walls (Emily); grandchildren, Annalyn, Ella Kate, Ava, Kinley, Joshua, Jackson, Elliana, Greyson, Amelia, Makenna, Adaleigh, Levi and Brantlee; siblings, Jerry Walls (Debbie), Clay Walls (Peggy), Kimberly Walls Holmes (Tommy); nieces and nephews, extended family, lifelong friends and church family.
His favorite verse was 1 Kings 8:60 “That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God and there is none else.”
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, from Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Smith and Pastor Jerry Walls officiating.
Interment was in the Yukon Cemetery.
