Mr. Deryl Leon Griggs, 77, of Ellijay, passed from his life here on Earth to his new life in heaven Wednesday, June 23, 2021.
He was born Sept. 30, 1943, to William “Bill” Griggs and Mildred Lou Key Griggs. He was a lifelong resident of the Whitepath community. He attended Temple Baptist Church in Morganton, and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by wife, Marilyn Ward Griggs; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Griggs Norton and Greg Norton, of Ellijay; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Penny Griggs, Chris Griggs and Katy Baxter, all of Ellijay; grandchildren, Whitley Norton Grizzle (Nathan Grizzle), Zach Norton, Alley Norton Lance (Carson Lance), Jonas Griggs, Ashtyn Griggs, Madison Griggs Carter (Isaac Carter); great-grandchildren, Rhett Lance, Brantley Carter and nieces.
A celebration of life was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Dr. Roger Beck and Greg Norton officiating.
Interment was at Chastain Memorial Park in Blue Ridge.
