Dennis Homer Petty

Mr. Dennis Homer Petty, 86, of Ellijay, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 20, 1935, in Saginaw, Mich., to the late Rolland Petty and Sarah LaClair Petty.

He was retired from the Gilmer County Road Department and proudly served our nation in the United States Navy.

He preceded in death by wife, Willa Dean Petty; and brother, Gerald Petty.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Erika Petty, of Ellijay; daughters and son-in-law, Dana and Tony Southern and Angela Petty, all of Ellijay; sisters, Carol Ward and Patricia Scnyder; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Pastor Dottie Williams officiating.

Full military honors were conducted by the United States Navy.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
