Mr. Demus Bryant, 77, of Ellijay, formerly of Canton, died Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his residence with loved ones by his side.
He was born in Baxter, Tenn., April 24, 1944, to the late Bice Finas Bryant and Pauline Dennis Bryant. He was a graduate of Upperman High School in Tennessee and was a retired construction supervisor for C.W. Matthews Inc.
He loved woodworking, carving and wood crafts. He raised game chickens for many years, and loved gardening and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by siblings, Mable Harnille, Jack Bryant, Fred Bryant and Ethelbert Lollis.
He is survived by wife, Janie Bryant; sons and daughter-in-law, Randy (Kim) Bryant, of Cartersville, and John Pope Jr., of Ellijay; daughters and sons-in-law, Lori Dyer, of Ellijay, Christy (Phil) Granger, of Calhoun, Rhonda (Wayne) Padgett, of Canton; mother-in-law, Irene Howell, of Mableton; brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Judy) Kent, of Mableton, and Thomas (Robin) Stalvey, of Stanley, N.C.; grandchildren, Ashley Franklin, Amber Granger, Megan Kousek, Madison Trader, Cody Granger, Remington Bryant and Jonathan Dyer; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2021, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Lanier Weaver officiating.
Interment was in the Yukon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cody Granger, Johnathan Dyer, Remington Bryant, Charles Kent, Thomas Stalvey and Ethan Moss.
Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
