Mr. Christopher “Chris” Dwayne Ford, 51, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at his residence.
He was born June 1, 1970, in Atlanta to the late Charles Perry Ford, Sr. and Barbara Jean Talton Ford.
He was a graduate of Georgia Southern University and a career police officer with the Lilburn Police Department, Kingsland Police Department and most recently the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department for 16 years. He was member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, from the First Baptist Church of Ellijay with Pastor Josh Moyers, Eddie Walters and Jeff Hicks officiating.
Music will be by the First Baptist Choir led by Minister Scott Eaton.
Police honors will follow at the Ellijay City Cemetery provided by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Ford, Jacob Porter, Joshua Haney, Nathan Cornn and Robert Ford.
He is survived by wife, Marcy Ford; children, Brooke Mkenzy Ford, Morgan Grace Ford, Austin James Clarkson, Noah Aaron Ford and Max Isaiah Ford; mother, Barbara Jean Ford, of Loganville; sisters, Robin Porter, of Marietta, Roxanne Wills of Loganville; and brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Chuck) Jr. and Amy Ford, of Loganville.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Logan Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chris’ memory to the FBC of Ellijay Benevolence Fund, 164 Dalton Street, Ellijay, GA 30540.
