Mr. Cecil Elmer Defoor, 89, of Ellijay, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at his residence. 

He was born March 12, 1931, to the late William Lee and Era Annis (Buckner) Defoor, in Ellijay.

He was a member and deacon of Crossroads Baptist Church, served honorably in the United States Army and retired from Armstrong Carpet Mill as a machine operator of 34 years. 

He is preceded in death by wife, Geraldine Sanford Defoor; and daughter, Deborah “Deb” Defoor Dotson. 

Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Crossroads Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Dotson officiating. 

Interment was in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dalton Thomas, Austin Padgett, Brent Dotson, Burt Dotson, Tyler Smith, Tracy James, Willie Sutherland and Wilburn Defoor.

He is survived by brother and sister–in–law, Willie and Elise Defoor, of Ellijay; sisters, Maxine Defoor Dunlap, Diana Defoor Cauldwell and Linda Defoor Dunlap, all of East Tennessee; son-in-law, James “Jim” Dotson; grandchildren, the Rev. Jamie and Cindy Dotson, of Ellijay, Brandie (Dotson) and Bryan Thomas, of Epworth; and great-grandchildren, Abby Dotson, Anna Dotson, Dalton Thomas,
Sadie Thomas and Owen Thomas. 

Donations can be made to the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery, in honor of Mr.  Defoor.
