Carolyn Leila West Billue, 92, of Atlanta, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020.

She was born in East Ellijay, March 3, 1928, to the late Newman and Flora Watkins West, the second of eight children.

She was a 1944 graduate of Ellijay High School and attended Marsh Draughn Business College in Atlanta.

In Atlanta, she met and married John Billue and they shared 49 happy years together until John’s passing in 2000. She and John made their home in Atlanta, where family was always welcome. They made frequent weekend trips to Ellijay and Irwinton to be a part of the lives of their large families.

Many wonderful memories were made in those times that will never be forgotten.

She adored her nieces and nephews and was a loving mentor and Christian role model, spending time with them, remembering them on their birthdays and at Christmas.

She loved her church, Briarlake Baptist, and attended faithfully until her health no longer permitted. She developed many longtime friendships in her Sunday school class at Briarlake.

She touched the lives of all who knew her and she will be remembered for her loving spirit and generosity.

She is preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Joyce West; brothers, Jack West and Vernon West; sister-in-law, Susie Waters West; niece, Julie Carolyn West and great nephew, Douglas West.

She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Mack and Ann West, and Ronnie and Sue West, all of East Ellijay; Larry and Gail West, of Senoia; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Joe Winkler, of Brookhaven; sisters-in-law, Lillian West and Mary Ellen West, of Ellijay; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Belmont Village Buckhead for their loving and compassionate care these past years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to the Gilmer County Christian Learning Center (CLC) in memory of Mrs. Billue.
