Billy Wayne Davis

Mr. Billy Wayne Davis, 80, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2020, following injuries associated with a fall.  

He was born Sept. 5, 1939, in Gilmer County, to the late Rev. Wayne and Berta Silvers Davis.  

He attended Gilmer High School and operated a radiator repair business until his retirement in 1981. He was an ordained Baptist deacon and member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. 

He is preceded in death by sisters, Christine Wright and Estalene Allen. 

He loved old cars, and for over 35 years, he and his wife sang gospel music with their group the Gospel Melody Trio.

He is survived by wife of 62 years, Catherine Parks Davis; children, Keith Davis and Vickie Davis; sister, Vert Witherow; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Cain and the Rev. Larry Stover officiating. 

Music was by the Rev. Eddie Cain and the congregation. 

Pallbearers were Ronnie Wright, Brent Chastain, Brandon Chastain, Darin McArthur, Matt Gibbs, Lee Parks, Jason Stover and Justin Stover. 

Honorary pallbearers were Leon Parks, Carroll Holbrooks, Lanny Chastain, Buster Stover, Michael Dyer, Matt Hefner, Hoke Aaron, Greg Griggs and Don Corley. 

Interment was in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
