Mr. Billy Truman Kowitz, 81, died Sunday, June 13, 2021, at his residence in Woodstock, surrounded by family. 

He was born June 14, 1939, to the late Fred and Pearl Kowitz. 

He was of the Baptist faith and a retired National Library Binder. 

He is preceded in death by brother, Johnny Kowitz; and sister, Lois Kyle.

He is survived by wife, Colleen Chastain Kowitz; daughters, Judy Kowitz, and Pam (Alex) Scholts; son, Tim (Cathy) Kowitz; sisters, Jewell Green and Betty (Clifford) Elliott; brother-in-law, Jack Kyle; sister-in-law, Elsie Kowitz; grandchildren, Billy, Blaze, Brandy and Shannah;
eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday June 16, 2021, from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Brother Ken Brooks and Minister Jack Kyle officiating. 

Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Noah Brooks, Bill Kowitz, Blaze Kowitz, Clifford Elliott, Skip Eubanks,  Will Poole and Will Elliott-Dean.

The family received friends Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour.
