Billy A. Newton

Mr. Billy A. Newton, 71, of Resaca, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2019.

He was born Aug. 17, 1948, in Gilmer County, to the late Clarence and Susie Davenport Newton. He worked for Gold Kist and was of the Baptist faith. He was married to the late Jerry Sue Sisson Newton.

He is survived by daughters, Christy Bowen, of Ellijay, April Lingerfelt, of Resaca; grandchildren, Cody Mashburn, Jacob Newton, Kalie Newton and Hannah Bowen; great-grandchildren, Emma Lingerfelt and Railey Lingerfelt; brother, Dartis Newton; sister, Betty Ann Pruitt, of Ellijay; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, from Flat Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. John Newton and the Rev. Dan Rosser officiating. Music was by Lowell Davis. 

Pallbearers were Jacob Newton, Larry Rymer, Eddie Bowen, Mike Sumner, Phillip Reece and Kevin Dilbeck. 

Interment was in the church cemetery. Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
