Mrs. Ann Alderfer, 75, of Canton, died peacefully at her home Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022.

She was born June 2, 1947, in Norristown, Pa., to the late Raymond and Anna Rodenbaugh Pollarine.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. She worked at Creekview Middle School for several years and trained race horses most of her life. She was a certified nurse and also had her real estate license. Everyone called her Nanny. Nanny will forever be missed.

She is preceded in death by brother, Raymond Pollarine; and sister, Patty Bumbaugh.

She is survived by husband, Robert Alderfer; daughter, Kim Charles (Al) of Ellijay; daughter, Tonia Pettway (Wayman), of Woodstock; grandchildren, Blake Roseberry (Dion) and JoeBob Charles, of Las Vegas, Nev., Bailey Charles, of Atlanta, Kindole Lorenzo (Leo), of Hiram, Leigha Pettway, Zeek Pettway, Izick Pettway, all of Woodstock; great-granddaughter, Sofia Lorenzo, of Hiram; nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; brother, Wayne Pollarine (Marilyn); sisters-in-law, Hazel Debenny (Butch) and Carol Pollarine, all of Pennsylvania.

Donations can be made to St. Labre Indian School of Ashland, Mont., and/or Shae’s Swim School on Go Fund Me.

SouthCare Funeral and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Honoring her request, no formal service will be held. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
