Multiple subdivisions taking shape across county

A number of new subdivisions are contributing to a time of heavy home construction in Gilmer County.  According to Planning and Zoning Director Karen Henson, 11 subdivisions are currently underway in the county area overseen by the planning and zoning office.
Law enforcement officials are looking for Megan Alyssa Colone, 30, of Stone Mountain (top left); Juan Ayala-Rodriguez, 35, of Gainesville (top right); Oscar Manuel Garcia, 26, of Austell (bottom right); Mario Alberto Barbosa-Juarez, 29, of Oklahoma City, Okla. (bottom left); and a fifth unidentified man (center) in connection with the murder of Rossana Delgado, 37, of Bethlehem.

Five sought in connection with murder

Authorities are looking for five people in connection with the murder of a woman which occurred in Gilmer County.

Food boxes provide 75,000 meals

By partnering with a federally-funded food box program, members of the Gilmer County Rotary Club have provided more than 75,000 meals worth of free food locally since last October. The Farmers to Families program, administered by the U.S.

County observes Sexual Assault Awareness Month

During a time when increased sexual and domestic violence cases continue to be seen, the North Georgia Mountain Crisis Network (NGMCN) wants residents of Gilmer, Pickens and Fannin counties to be aware of the services it offers to victims of these crimes.

Ellijay City Councilmembers gave a landscape architecture design firm the go-ahead to start working on plans to improve the general roundabout area, as well as pedestrian safety downtown, when meeting Monday, April 19.

Animal shelter, FOGAS to start trap, fix and release program for feral cats

The Gilmer County Animal Shelter and its “friends of” group (FOGAS) are partnering for a first-time program that’s hoped to reduce an overpopulation of feral cats in the county. Animal shelter staff will soon begin humanely trapping feral cats at the request of local residents.
