GHS softball players stay busy with travel

The Gilmer High Lady Cats are looking to build on last season’s state softball tournament appearance.Head coach Haley Vick lightened the players’ load slightly this summer as 15 of 17 players are on travel teams. Athletes’ time was also shared between multiple sports at GHS.

Clear Creek football players have been gearing up for the 2026 season over the summer.Following the Bobcats’ annual spring practice, CCMS received a few weeks off before it was time to get to work in June.

Gilmer Bobcat wrestlers made the most of June by getting mat time and improving.Like many sports programs at GHS, wrestlers plied their craft both at home and on the road. The month kicked off with their youth wrestling camps for both older and younger grapplers.

The Gilmer Bobcats completed their first summer under new basketball head coach Clay Crump.The Cats were together for three weeks in June. It was a chance for Crump to learn about his new squad while tailoring the offense and defense to its strengths.

Bobcat baseball stays home for the summer

Gilmer High baseball spent much of June on its home field preparing for the 2027 season.Baseball is one of the few spring sports at GHS with an established summer regimen. The Cats were on the field Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Gilmer Bobcats and Lady Cats closed out the summer swim season.Gilmer was in Moultrie last Friday and Saturday for the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Class C Championship Swim Meet. The Cats returned home with 13 top-10 placements.

The Gilmer Bobcats have been on the football field for four weeks this summer. By the time the Cats have four more weeks under their belt, it will nearly be time to play for real.The Cats have remained active in the weight room all year, and the summer has been no exception.
