John Vernon ‘Pete’ Banks

Mr. John Vernon “Pete” Banks, 85, of Chatsworth, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022.

He was born Oct. 30, 1937, in Ellijay, to the late Clinton Garfield Banks and Lillie Artie Dotson Banks. He worked as a mechanic for Coronet Carpets for over 40 years and was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors. His greatest passion was his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by wife, Gertha Lee Banks; brother, Bert Banks; and sister, Marie Banks.

He is survived by son, Terry Banks; daughters, Dianne Banks (Tim) Brown and Debra Lee (Lebo) Foster; brother, Troy Banks; two sisters, Odell Clark and Carrie Sue Smith; grandchildren, Matt (Rhonda) Townsend, Joanna Cross, Chip Brown and Sarah Beth Brown; and great-grandchildren, Chloe Townsend, Eli Townsend and Lillie Cross.
