Mr. Emory Reid Jones, 74, of Ellijay, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2022.

He was born March 3, 1948, in Ellijay, to the late Floyd William and Burnice Ruth (Lowe) Jones. 

He was a Gilmer High School graduate, class of 1966, and was a member of Salem Baptist Church for over 60 years. He worked at CTI Carpets, then retired after 20 years at Pilgrim’s Pride. After retirement, he worked for Gilmer County Landfill.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by wife of 51 years, Wanda Reed Jones, of Ellijay; daughter, Tammy Rena Jones, of Ellijay; son, David William Jones, of Ellijay; grandchild, Bryne Allen Eaton; great-grandchildren, Abigail Eaton and Conner Eaton; sister, Clola and James Buford McArthur, of Ellijay; brother, Marvin and Lavonne Jones, of Ellijay; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Brondy Davis and the Rev. Bryan Hensley officiating.

Pallbearers were Jason Reed, Darin McArthur, Michael Reed, Joe Bouhl, Donny Lee Cantrell, Billy Medlin and Tommy Patrick.

Donations can be made to Salem Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Jones.
