Vardis ‘Buzz’ Benson

Mr. Vardis “Buzz” Benson, 64, of Ellijay, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021.

He was born in Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 28, 1956, to the late Wayne Benson and Eilene Kellog Benson.

He was retired from the Gwinett County Police Department.

He is survived by wife, Angela Benson; son, Bradley Benson; daughter, Amber Shirley; son-in-law, Scott Shirley; and grandchild, Rylan Shirley.

A memorial service will was held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, at Covenant Community Church.

Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
