CORRECTION: In last week’s edition of the Times-Courier in a story about qualifying for the upcoming election, it said the three posts on the board of education would be on the Nov. 3 ballot.
This is incorrect. These races will appear on the May 19 ballot. The races will be decided then and will not appear on the November ballot.

Qualifying ended in Gilmer County, and three local races will be contested in the general primary May 19.
Incumbent Tax Commissioner Rebecca Marshall will be challenged by Penney Andruski and Sharla Davis.
Incumbent Coroner Jerry B. Hensley will be contested for the office by Beth Arnold.
Magistrate Judge Roger Kincaid will step down after 24 years in office. A crowded field of five will vie to replace him, including Ken Roberts, Reagan Griggs Pritchett, Michael Parham, Kevin “Troop” Johnson and Norman Edward Gibbs III.
Uncontested in the general primary will be Post 1 Commissioner Hubert Parker, Sheriff Stacy Nicholson, Probate Judge Scott Chastain, Clerk of Superior Court Amy Johnson and Surveyor Jeffrey T. Vick.
Early voting for these races begins April 27 and will run through May 15 at the Registrars Office.
Any runoffs in these primary races will be held July 21 if necessary.
The registration deadline to be eligible to vote in the primary is April 20.
Early voting is already underway in the Georgia Presidential Primary which will be held March 24.
Qualifying has also ended for the three posts on the board of education. These are nonpartisan and will be on the May 19 ballot.
Running for Post 1 Board of Education will be Thomas Ocoback and Michael Parks. For Post 2 James Parmer will be challenged by Joseph Pflueger. Unopposed for Post 3 will be Douglas Pritchett.
Early voting for the general election begins Oct. 12 and runs through Oct. 30. Registration to vote for the general election ends Oct. 5.
