PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
As of 3:15pm on Friday July 31, 2026, the Ellijay-Gilmer County Water & Sewerage Authority (Authority) is lifting the Boil Water Advisory that was issued on Wednesday July 29, 2026 for the New Hope Pressure Zone area of the Authority’s water distribution system. The Boil Water Advisory was issued due to storm damage that caused the failure of an 8” PVC water main on Hwy 52 West in the City of Ellijay. The Boil Water Advisory is lifted for all areas of the Authority’s water distribution system.
Authority crews completed repair of the water main and disinfection and flushing procedures were performed with samples being taken to a certified laboratory for microbiological testing.
Microbiological test results were negative for total coliform bacteria, and the water has been deemed to be safe for human consumption.
The Authority apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates the patience of all customers affected by this event.
