The Gilmer County School System’s Seamless Summer feeding program will begin next Monday with some slight modifications to its original schedule.
Meals will still be available Monday through Friday at all seven locations. However, the system’s Summer Academies that feature STEM activities will be limited to the Tower Road, Boys & Girls Club, First United Methodist Church and Mulberry Apartments sites.
STEM activities will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays ahead of lunch and are catered to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Seamless Summer meals are open to those under 18 years of age.
The program kicks off Monday, June 7, and will run through July 16. An individual breakfast and lunch will be served at Gilmer High School, while the remaining six sites will package breakfast and lunch together.
Additionally, a bus has been converted into the “Bobcat Cafe,” which serves as a mobile feeding site that also offerers educational opportunities and will be on location at Lakeside Mobile Homes.
