Michael Parks has announced he has qualified for Post 1 Gilmer County Board of Education, a position he previously held for one term and was vice-chairman for two years.
In announcing, Parks said, “I am determined to stick to principles, integrity, and most importantly, accountability. You must have direct concentration on the success, education and welfare of all students.”
Parks continued, “Working together as a board to resolve issues is very important to me. Ultimately, the best interest of the students must be the determining factor for our decisions. We must be able to express the opinions of the parents and make the best decisions to provide a great education for all students.
“I know the Gilmer County Charter School System does provide a quality education. The board must be prepared for the rapid changes in policy and ensure we provide one common goal: Help all students achieve and be successful.”
The candidate is a life-long resident and has been married to Donna Parks for 35 years. Donna is currently a teacher at Gilmer High School and has been an educator for 23 years. They have two daughters, Haley and Jenna, who both graduated Gilmer High School with honors.
