Jan. 16-17 new dates for Goldilocks on Trial
This weekend, Gilmer High School Theater will present a one-act comedy that was postponed from its initial December opening date.
The GHS Theater Department presents Goldilocks on Trial Saturday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m. Both shows will take place at the Linda Miller Theater inside GHS. Admission is $5.
The one-act play is a funny children’s production that adults can also enjoy, said director James Fuller.
“It’s a courtroom comedy that’s exactly what it sounds like. Goldilocks broke into the three bears’ house, now they’re suing her for property damage. House at Pooh Corner was a show where you brought your kids so they could have fun. This is a show where you bring your kids and you will have fun, too,” he added.
Fuller said the play runs just under an hour.
“So many of my returning actors are doing online (school) this year, so we had to recruit a lot of new students. I would say over half of this cast is actually first-time actors,” he added.
Seating will be managed differently for the production, and audience members are highly encouraged to wear a face mask, noted Fuller.
“When they come in, they can go where they normally get tickets. They will then be escorted with the group they come with and seated by one of our student ushers. Groups of people or people by themselves will be seated at least two seat lengths apart. The first two rows from the stage will be no seating,” he added.
Fuller said GHS Theater also plans to present a spring musical, Chicago, later in the year.
