Four Ellijay men have been charged with murder in the death of a Pickens County woman.
Gray Anthony McClure, 21, Robert Gabriel Shoilekov, 17, Davonnte Lavon Brehon, 18, and Anthony Jared Inestruza Whisnant, 19, all of Ellijay, have been charged with felony murder in the death of Mallory Lyric Warden, 19, of Jasper.
“We do expect more arrests,” said Gilmer County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson. “It has turned into a complex case.”
At 10:50 p.m., Sept. 18, deputies and EMS responded to a 911 call of a person being shot. They found Warden in a vehicle on South Main Street, Ellijay, near the old Kiker’s Supply, with a gunshot wound.
Warden was taken to the hospital where she later died, according to a release by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office.
“There were four girls in the vehicle,” Nicholson said. “She was not the driver. I have to assume they were headed to the hospital.”
Talona Road was the site of the shooting. Nicholson said the vehicle the women were in became disabled on South Main. One of the women in the vehicle called 911.
All the occupants of the vehicle were from Jasper, he said.
Nicholson said he wanted to address a rumor which states the shooting was a random drive-by shooting. It was not random. When the case wraps up and more details become available this will become apparent, he said.
Gilmer County sheriff’s detectives and the Georgia Bureau of Investigations are continuing the investigation.
