Ellijay man dies in single-car accident

An Ellijay man was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle struck a tree and a power pole and caught fire.

Wes Hackle, 23, of Ellijay, was traveling east on Clear Creek Road at 1 a.m. on Oct. 4 in a 2006 Kia Sorento, according to the Department of Public Safety Public Information Office.

While negotiating a left curve, Hackle failed to maintain lanes and traveled off the south shoulder of the roadway. He traveled down an embankment, struck a power pole with the front of the vehicle. 

After impact, the Sorento struck a tree with its front, came to a final rest and caught on fire, according to the Department of Public Safety Public Information Office.
