Stitches in his cell before being handed over to Santa. The Times-Courier is happy to report that after an intense few weeks and an ongoing elf hunt, Stitches has been apprehended.

Stitches began his crime spree after Light Up Ellijay, attacking our beloved Christmas tree, and persisted with several more assaults on local agencies.

Attempts to capture him left authorities baffled by his crafty escapes, but thanks to the tireless efforts of the Ellijay Police Department, Gilmer County 911, Ellijay Fire Department and Ellijay Elementary School, he was taken into custody by Santa Christmas Eve.

Knowing that offenders often return to the scene of their crimes, authorities set traps at previous targeted locations,  and he was eventually captured in front of the Christmas tree.

The Ellijay Police Department thanks everyone for their efforts in bringing Stitches to justice.
