Gilmer’s public health COVID-19 testing is now being done at the county health department, located at 28 Southside Church Street, confirmed representatives from the North Georgia Health District.
Tests were previously administered two to three days a week at the ETC Pavilion on Legion Road.
They are now being done outside the health department Monday-Thursday, from 8-9 a.m. Appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling 888-881-1474.
“Patients being tested for COVID remain in their cars in the parking lot. They do not come in the building. We are currently providing (other) services after testing, from 9:30 a.m. on,” said nurse manager Krystal Sumner.
The local health department began coronavirus testing at the ETC Pavilion in April. Since then, 6,623 tests have been performed, noted Sumner.
“We would like to thank ETC for allowing us to utilize the pavilion as our test site, as well as the Gilmer Sheriff’s Office and Gilmer EMS, specifically the paramedicine team of Ron Cheslock and Mary Fuller, for their assistance with traffic control and information collection,” she added.
