During this time of crisis and uncertainty in our world, the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Georgia (BGCNG) are standing strong and making a difference in our communities. Partnering with the Pickens County Board of Education, BGCNG is making more than 700 learning kits each week to hand out to families that come to get meals. Inside the kits, the children will have access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) projects, science experiments, coloring pages, art projects, snacks and all necessary supplies. There are how-to instructions, as well as web links on tutorials created by the staff demonstrating, step-by-step, how to make each project.
“Families and club members need us now more than ever,” says Interim CEO Jessica Wells. “We are stepping up to serve our community in whatever capacity they may need. On the other hand, during this time, we need our communities’ support to help continue to serve those who need us most!”
BGCNG is working hard to connect with all our club families to make sure they have everything they need during this crisis. Just as we are making ourselves available for our families, we would appreciate if others in our community would do the same for us.
To give, please go to bgcng.org or mail a check to P.O. Box 649, Jasper, GA 30143. Every penny we bring in right now goes toward making sure we have enough supplies for our learning kits, as well as resources and staff to provide support for these families. Every donation is tax deductible, and the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act includes a new above-the-line deduction for total charitable contributions of up to $300.
The incentive applies to contributions made in 2020 and would be claimed on tax forms in 2021. The bill also lifts the existing cap on annual contributions for those who itemize, raising it from 60 percent of adjusted gross income to 100 percent.
Thank you for your prayers and continued support. BGCNG is going to make it through this, and we will come out stronger on the other side because we will do whatever it takes!
