Road Testing suspended
Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and security of our customers and team members, DDS is following the recommendation of public health authorities regarding social distancing.
DDS has suspended all road testing, noncommercial and commercial, until further notice. Additionally, some DDS Customer Service Centers have closed due to workforce shortages.

Gilmer Tax Commissioners Office
As concerns continue to arise about the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the need to practice social distancing, we as a team have decided to remain open to our community. If you or your immediate family are sickened by this virus, please stay home. We ask that you limit our lobby area to no more than five person(s) at one time. Our office would also like to remind our customers that there are many ways to still conduct your business without coming into our office if you do not feel safe.
Motor Vehicle https://dor.georgia.gov/motor-vehicles/drives-e-services services such as tag renewals, duplicate registration, cancel registration, TAVT estimator and many more.
Property Taxes: www.gilmercounty.paytaxes.net- services include search & pay taxes for property tax payments, mobile home tax payments and general information. We have reached out to our service providers and have been able to temporary reduce the convenience fee for property payments from 2.5 percent to 2.35 percent and we have extended the due date on mobile homes to May 1. This will allow an extra 30 days from the original date of April 1. Receipts and decals will be mailed to you after payments have been processed either online or through the mail.
Drop Box: (We have a drop box located by the flag pole at the court house entrance seating area). Please feel free to drop off your property tax payments, motor vehicle renewals, etc. We check this drop box several times a day and can mail back to you or if you, provide us a phone number we can call you to come pick up. DO NOT PUT CASH IN THE DROP BOX.
