Following our long winter, and the even longer two years we have just experienced, spring is welcomed with open arms here in Gilmer County.
We, the staff of the Times-Courier are here to help you welcome spring into your home with our new edition of Mountain Home, formerly Home, Garden & Garage.
We have changed the name in the hopes of better branding our magazines together. When you see Mountain in the title, you will know it is a quality publication presented by the staff of the Times-Courier.
Though the title has changed, the content of this magazine will still surround spring projects to improve your home and your surroundings.
We will offer some ideas for crafts, do-it-yourself projects, gardens and plantings and preparing for the spring and summer. Whether you are partial to the indoors or outdoors, we have something for you in this magazine.
As the season arrives, bears are emerging from their hibernation. We will give you some information about dealing with them.
Have outdoor pets like cats and dogs? We have a list of plants you might want to avoid in your yard. We even throw in a few tips for chickens as well.
On the other side, we have some suggestions for plants which are deemed “deer resistant” for you to add to your yard.
Find out about the Garden Club of Ellijay's plant sale, or if you want to start your own, we will give you some tips about hydroponics. There is also a piece with tips for your flower garden.
Whitney Sherrill gives us some tips about decorating for spring with some everyday household items with pictures.
And, there is so much more.
We could not produce this magazine alone. Please see the list of our sponsors and their ads. We would encourage you to join us in thanking them for their support and help in providing these ideas to you.
As always, putting together this magazine is a labor of love. We hope this comes through in our stories. It is also nice when we hear from you about the ideas you used and how they worked out.
Thank you for reading and thank you for being part of the Times-Courier and Gilmer County family.
Welcome to spring.
