Drivers on Turniptown Creek bridge at Hwy. 515 will be using the detour for a few more months than originally planned.
Weather delays have hampered construction efforts which has pushed the deadline for the bridge’s completion from March 2025 to summer of 2025, said Joe Schulman, District 6 communications officer for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
“The project is about 30 percent complete,” he said. “It was expected to be completed in March, but there will be a time extension.”
Workers are currently creating the foundation of the new $4.96 million bridge.
Planning for the Turniptown Creek bridge began in 2019 and continued through COVID. The pandemic slowed many projects down from design to right of way acquisition, Schulman said.
