Gov. Brian Kemp has received recommendations for two candidates, one of whom will fill a superior court judge vacancy in the Appalachian Judicial Circuit.
Judge John Worcester, a Superior Court judge in the three-county court circuit that includes Gilmer, Pickens and Fannin County since 2016 and the circuit’s juvenile court judge prior to that, passed away in August.
The two candidates recommended for the judgeship by the state Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) are Keith Galligan and Alison Sosebee.
Galligan is the Appalachian circuit’s juvenile and family court judge. Sosebee is the circuit’s longtime district attorney.
The Georgia JNC is a council, which includes multiple judges and attorneys. Its purpose is to review applications and recommend candidates to fill judicial vacancies within Georgia’s state, superior and appellate courts.
