Two people are behind bars following a drug and firearm bust by the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies executed a search warrant on Feb. 17 at a home on Simmons Road, near Gunstock Creek Road.
“It was pretty cut and dry, deputies went out with [The Division of Family and Children Services on a DFCS referral], smelled marijuana, and we obtained a search warrant based on that and got all the goodies,” Detective Kirk Champion said.
According to the press release, they discovered 24 grams of cocaine, shrooms and LSD, 9 pounds of marijuana and $1,400 in cash.
Alex Ledesma, 37, and Sarah Anne Aranda, 33, are facing multiple charges for Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
Ledesma is also facing counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, after deputies seized 14 guns from the residence.
“Once you’re convicted of a felony, you lose your right to have a firearm,” Champion noted.
Ledesma and Aranda are both being held at the Gilmer County Jail. They could face additional charges, according to GCSO.
