Cody Vandiver Akins, the second suspect charged in connection with almost 35 pounds of meth found Nov. 8 in Fannin County, has been arrested.
Akins, 26, of 2454 Dry Branch Road, is held in the Fannin County jail without bond on felony charges of trafficking in methamphetamine or amphetamine and marijuana, possession with intent to distribute. He is also charged with possession of drug-related objects, a misdemeanor.
According to the warrants sworn out against Akins, he was in possession/control of approximately 15 kilograms (15,730 grams) of methamphetamine and approximately 2 pounds of suspected marijuana. All the drugs were found throughout and around the residence.
His father, Raymond Vandiver Akins, was previously arrested when the methamphetamine, marijuana, guns and drug paraphernalia were discovered.
The street value of the methamphetamine, when broken down to the sale by the dose, was placed at $5,033,600, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) conversion table.
The charges against the father and son came after a search warrant was executed on the property.
The GBI announced Akins’ arrest and the warrants against Cody Akins at the time.
Taking part in the effort were agents of the GBI’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Fannin County and Gilmer County sheriff’s offices, the FBI Conasauga Safe Streets Task Force and the Department of Community Supervision (Probation).
