The Gilmer County School System has provided meals at no cost as the Seamless Summer feeding program enters its second month.
Breakfast and lunch are available Monday through Thursday at six locations throughout the county and are open to those who are 18 years old and younger. Parents and guardians may pick up meals on their child’s behalf.
The Seamless Summer program was split into two sessions. It kicked off Monday, June 3, and ran through June 28. The program resumed July 8, and the final day of summer meals will be served July 18.
An individual breakfast and lunch are provided separately at the Gilmer High School cafeteria. The remaining five sites serve breakfast and lunch together beginning at 11:30 a.m. On Thursdays, sites offer two lunches and two breakfasts per individual because the program is closed Fridays.
The Bobcat Cafe is a mobile feeding site on location behind First Baptist Church of Ellijay. A second mobile site is located on Orchard Road.
