Qualifying for several Gilmer County offices started Monday, March 4. The last day to qualify is Friday, March 8.
The following offices are on the ballot for the county’s Tuesday, May 21, primary election: sheriff, post one commissioner, coroner, probate judge, magistrate judge, superior court clerk, tax commissioner, surveyor and four board of education seats.
Three BOE seats were already up for election, but a special election to fill the seat previously held by the late Michael Bramlett will also be on the ballot, confirmed Tammy Watkins, chief registrar.
Qualifying fees for the election are as follows:
Sheriff - $ 2,318.83
Magistrate Judge - $1,935.37
Superior Court Clerk, Probate Judge, Tax Commissioner - $1,897.42.
Coroner - $1,075.77
Post 1 Commissioner - $459.13.
Board of Education Posts 1, 2, 3 and 4 - $144.
Surveyor - $50.
The county’s general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5, the same day as the presidential election.
Qualifying fees can be paid in person at the Gilmer County Probate Judge/Election Superintendent’s Office, located at 1 Broad Street, Suite 204, inside the courthouse.
Qualifying hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-noon on Friday.
