I would like to announce my candidacy for Gilmer County School Board — District 4.
My husband, Lee Penland, and I are lifelong residents of Gilmer County. Lee and his brother John are the fifth generation of Penlands to own and operate Penland’s Apple House.
We have two daughters, Morgan and Rachel, who attended Gilmer Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. They were involved in numerous sports and clubs while at GHS and both graduated with honors from UGA.
I worked at Gilmer schools for 31 years as a teacher, administrator and director for Career, Technical and Agricultural Education before retiring in June of 2019.
We have a good school system in place. My children were afforded many opportunities within our schools during their time there. I want to continue to see Gilmer Schools excel for future generations. I feel my background and experience will continue to allow me to make a positive impact within our school system.
I would appreciate your vote in the General Primary election on May 24.
