Real estate office will replace empty building
With powerful yet delicate movements, an excavator machine set to work demolishing the empty building at 84 South Main Street.
The building, long empty, will be replaced with a real estate office, said James Dover, owner of Dover Brothers Contracting.
“It’s gonna be an office building,” he said.
He added that it will be about the same size as the old building.
The property’s owner, Armando Bravo, didn’t want to demolish the older building at first, but decay inside the structure made remaking it impractical, Dover said.
“When they got to clean out the insides, they found it was rotted down,” he said. “It was gonna have to be demolished anyway.”
Bravo’s business, Bravo and Partners LLC, is based out of Miami. It owns a total of 24 properties in Gilmer County.
It didn’t take long for the excavator to scoop, smash and flatten the structure. In less than a few hours, the building was a pile of rubble.
