With pride, the staff of the Times-Courier presents you our Information Please. Welcome to our publication and welcome to our county.
The first line of my welcoming statement stays the same as last year, because it is the idea and the feeling we want you to have when reading our publications. Our goal is to give you information about Gilmer County, Ellijay and East Ellijay.
If you are a visitor, we want to welcome you to our county and provide a sense of who we are and what is available in our area. If you are locating here, we have some details which may make your transition to living here easier. If you are a resident, we want to offer you a new perspective on your home and maybe point you toward some things you may have missed.
In this issue, we have a story which shows how making friends and outdoor activities can go hand in hand. Local residents enjoy hiking and biking. They also build community while joining others outdoors.
If the great outdoors is not your cup of tea, we have local parks with everything from walking trails to pickle ball courts to playgrounds.
If you are looking for a four-legged friend, we have information about agencies working with animals and helping them find homes. There is also some information about avoiding the bears in the area and co-existing with them.
Our farmer’s market is operating, and you can discover the changes which have been made and where to get some of our local fruits, vegetables and crafts.
Included in this issue is some history of the county to get you up to speed on our past.
We even have a list of organizations, in case you want to roll up your sleeves and get involved.
We encourage you to look at our map and notice our orchards and vineyards which abound in the community. They are wonderful places to visit and enjoy the local flavors of Gilmer County.
There is also helpful hints about services, local politicians and tax rates. And, so much more.
Please visit our advertisers and let them know how much you enjoyed the magazine.
As always, thank you for reading. We hope you enjoy our publication.
