An accident which occurred on Hwy. 515 is still under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Teams.
A full report has not been released, only preliminary details.
According to reports, Thursday, Oct. 12, at 2:49 p.m., troopers from Post 27 responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 515 at Whitepath Springs Road in Gilmer County.
A 2013 Kenworth dump truck was traveling west on Whitepath Springs Road, turning left onto Hwy. 515. The driver of the Kenworth turned directly into the path of a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado which was traveling north on GA 5 and was struck on the side by the Chevrolet, according to reports.
Both drivers, Robert Green, 52, and Wilburn Defoor, 75, were transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital by helicopter with serious injuries. Green was driving the Chevrolet, and Defoor was driving the Kenworth.
