Winners in the annual Ellijay Lions Club-sponsored Veterans Day poster and essay contest were recognized at the ceremony downtown last week. The poster contest was for elementary school students, and the essay challenge was for middle and high schoolers. Based on a theme of “Honor & Remember,” the winners and their schools were, from left, Kenneth Woodring (NGCA 12th), Imelda Jacinto Ramirez (GHS 11th), Lyla Richards (GHS 10th), Pollie Elder (NGCA 9th), Alice Pim (NGCA 7th), Della Richards (CCMS 6th), Arianna Chevez (CCE 5th) and Emmaline Pope (MVE 4th).
