Attention all Veterans: Ellijay and Gilmer County will celebrate Veteran’s Day with several activities.
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. celebrants will assemble at the First United Church on McCutchen Street. Coffee and breakfast will be served by volunteers. It is a good time to share about your time in the service as well.
At 10:30 a.m. we will begin the parade toward the courthouse and the roundabout where our Veteran’s Day ceremony will be held.
At this trying time in our nation’s history, all veterans are encouraged to participate in some way to show our strength and unity not only to our nation, but to the many young people who will be observing the celebration. The theme for this year is “Peace Thru Strength.”
Guest speaker and Grand Marshall is Commander Larry C. Turner, USNR,
Retired.
The award-winning Gilmer High School Band will perform as well as the Gilmer High School Chorus and the award-winning Ellijay Elementary Chorus will be performing a musical celebration honoring our veterans. All fifth graders will be in attendance as well. This is a program you will not want to miss.
Veterans and their families will be served lunch at the Ellijay Lions Club immediately after the ceremony.
Anyone with ideas they want to share or want to help, please call Sam Burrell, chair, Veteran’s Day activities at 706-273-8436.
