A Gilmer County deputy has been placed on leave following an arrest in Pickens County.
Christopher Couch, 42, of Jasper, is charged with aggravated assault and simple battery — family violence, according to a Pickens County Adult Detention Center report.
A Facebook post on the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office page says Couch was arrested Friday morning, March 24, following a domestic violence incident.
“Deputy Couch has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the Internal Affairs investigation,” the post reads.
The post says the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office cannot comment on an ongoing investigation by another department.
An incident report was not available from the Picken’s Sheriff Office.
“We are unable to release the incident report per GA Code 17-4-20.1(d) Family Violence,” said Lt. Tina Head in an email.
