In the final tally, 78 percent of Gilmer County registered voters turned out to cast a ballot.
A total of 18,571 out of 23,768 registered voters showed up, according to the Georgia Secretary of State’s website. Voting reached 50 percent during early and absentee balloting.
In the one local issue, Gilmer County voters rejected a Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) with 10,135 voting against the measure and 7,602 voting in favor.
President-elect Donald Trump won the county with 81.03 percent of the vote or 14,976 votes. Vice President Kamala Harris received 3,413 votes or 18.47 percent.
Trump won Georgia by a margin of 2,661,143 votes to 2,544,405 for Harris.
Congressman Andrew Clyde took Gilmer County with 14,871 votes to challenger Tambrei Cash’s 2,979. In District 9 overall, Clyde won 270,917 to 121,593.
Statewide issue Constitutional Amendment 1, which would cap the valuation of home property assessments to inflation rate for the previous year passed in Gilmer County 10,973 to 6,105. Statewide the issue passed 3,091,563 to 1,821,862.
Constitutional Amendment 2, which would create a state tax court for handling complaints with the state Department of Revenue failed in Gilmer County 8,281 to 8,501, but passed statewide 2,522,883 to 2,339,849.
Finally, a statewide referendum which asked if the exemption from property tax for all tangible personal property should increase from $7,500 to $20,000 passed in Gilmer County 12,324 to 5,026 and statewide 3,220,985 to 1,774,115.
